Satan really attacks the gifts and talent areas of our life.
Satan wants to ruin us. He wants us to focus on anything but using our gifts. Anything. He wants us to look at what kind of gift a friend has been given. Or get way too focused on the method or way to use our gifts correctly. He tries to get us worried that someone else is going to take our place, or that they are going to be better than us. He wants us to worry about what others will think of us if we step out and use our gifts. He puts great fear in our hearts; to try to get us to shrink back and avoid our calling.
He wants us to envy, compare, and fear.
That’s is just who he is.
When our physical body is fighting an infection, it stops or slows down in the other things it was made to do. For one example the digestion slows down.
The same with the body of Christ!
When we, Sisters of the Body of Christ, are fighting the sin of envy, comparison, or fear … the body of Christ is unable to really do the thing God called us to do.
Sister, do you know what office you hold in the body?
Today’s verse says ‘For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.’ Romans 12:4 & 5
Another translation says… just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
‘All members have not the same office.’
Paul wants us to know; Every.Single.One.Of.Us WILL be different!
Friend, if we know we are going to hold a different spot in the Body…
* We can stop comparing.
* We can stop being worried someone will take our place.
* We can be happy, if someone does something better than us.
* We can use our gifts without fear.
* We can stop focusing on how to ‘do it right’
We can settle into our place knowing… we will not look like the Sister next to us.
Do you know what office you hold? Do you know where your exact place is right now?
Really, I don’t know if any of us hold the same ‘office’ our whole life. I tend to think that our purpose changes at times. As our seasons change, our roles, purpose, and ‘office’ changes with them. Moms with toddlers, I promise. 😉 it will change.
Maybe some of us get it wrong at first. We try one thing and find out that is not who God made us to be. Let me look into your eye and say…try again and just keep on trying.
Friend, do you say ‘Girl, I have NO clue what my ‘office’ is! Or ‘Girl, I’ve done so many different things… I guess I got it all wrong.’?
No, I don’t think so. All those times that we look back and wonder why we did something for a while and moved on. . . I don’t think that it meant we have made a mistake. Rather, I think, that Jesus has us called us to one ‘office’ to mold, form, teach, and refine us into the girsl we are supposed to become. When we learn the lessons He has for us; then He calls us to something different.
If you are in this hard spot of between offices… I feel for you! It’s hard to sit at the verge of a new season and wonder what office I’m going to hold. It just is. Not really having a place or position anywhere is never fun.
I’m not sure if we will ever truly be completely in the perfect sweet spot of a calling once and for all. I do believe it may continue to get clearer as each year goes by. We need to keep learning, and leaning into the Holy Spirit, listening for His direction and specific calling on our life.

Somedays motherhood is the sole position. But sisters, even if we are a mother, our kids need to also see us reaching out beyond them. They need to see us give and serve someone outside of our own home.
Better yet, they personally need to learn how to serve outside their own home as well. Together serving others is a good office to be a part of. Mom and kids. Maybe we are called to serve the neighbor across the road, a grandma, the couple that just had a baby, the teacher at school. A blog, ministry. It could be a part time job where you serve others, cleaning teeth and giving people a smile. Or possibly it could be a nurse at a cancer center giving people hope and a hug. Maybe you could pray for the people you meet in the grocery store. If you live in Wayne County, Ohio, ministry happens at the Aldi store; take your kids with you… and share love. Aldi’s is the place to go 😉
I know you know this but I’ll just say it again. . .Our home and family needs to always be FIRST! And then if we have extra strength, we ask God how we should be serving outside our home. (Honestly, if it’s the right thing, spending an hour serving in our sweet spot on something outside our own home can be invigorating and energizing. It can fill us to the brim, while in turn, helping us serve our family better. But our first priority is always our own home.)
Girl, God has given you a gift. He has given you some type of talent to use in a specific office or position. It might be as simple as a smile. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what your special ‘office’ (your special purpose) is. When He shows you, then share it. Show your kids how to share it as well. Use it to bring GOD GLORY! This is the reason we were made.
Check back tomorrow for a practical list of some gifts!
