“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:4
Jesus’ work was to glorify God while also doing it out of a great love for us. If Jesus’ work was to glorify God and love, I believe that is our work as well. It is easy for me to get hung up on the specifics of my work. But the problem with getting hung up in the work itself is that we tend to forget the most important reason for our work–the intangible things that accompany the work. I don’t believe it is the actual work itself, but rather that our days are filled with a godly love in all we do for the glory of God.
Each day I wake up I pray that my day can be lived in a godly love, for God’s glory through God’s grace.
Matthew 9:37-38 says “…The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few, pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into his harvest.”
I am learning more and more that I can’t control my work. I am also unable to complete the work I am called to do without Jesus living through me. I pray that we can all do our work through His grace, not our own merit. I pray that we can each pray that God would prepare hearts to hear and see the good news of Jesus through us. I pray that we can be laborers for God in the areas He wants us to be, and that it would be carried out in godly love for his glory, through His grace.
