One year ago the site Hello Jesus was launched. This dream and calling on my heart started as a prompting from God to create a prayer journal. Eventually that lead to taking on the former Girls and God’s Word site. This journey so far has been an exciting one that I have loved. Yes, there have been tears, stresses, unmet expectations, and more, but what I am learning is this: It is not about what I am doing, it is about who God is making me.
The same is true for you and your journey through life. It is so easy to get wrapped up in what we are doing, rather that who God is wanting us to become. I know a year ago, I envisioned Hello Jesus in a different way than it is right now. I had different expectations than God. While we will never be able to predict God’s expected outcome, we do know one thing: He wants to sanctify us through life to become more like Him.
I am a limited person, but for awhile I thought maybe I could do it all. I could listen to all the business advice, while spending time enjoying the small years with my kids, while running every single detail that goes into something like this, and keeping the house perfectly. I can hear you laughing at me right now ;). We all know we can’t do it all, but it doesn’t seem to stop us from trying right? God slowly unclasped my grip on my perceived control and is teaching me valuable lessons along this journey. Instead of seeing my own failed expectations as negatives that cloud my vision, I am starting to embrace the fact that wherever He calls me to, He also grows me in Him. Along with the growth, I am free to let God handle the outcomes. God is in control, we are free to work whole heartedly for Him.
Hello Jesus Company is His, and I am blessed to run its day to day operations; but at the end of the day it is His and the outcome is His. I am so thankful for how He is using it in my life, and I pray it is a blessing in other’s lives as well. I pray that we each can find confidence and beauty in the things God calls us to–whether they measure up to our expectations or not.
